Calling Estevan Choirs!

An Estevan youth group is looking for a singing group to perform at their fundraiser event to be held on either the weekend of December 6 or the weekend of December 13.  The youth group hopes for 150-180 in attendance.  Please contact Dani Gallipeau at liftingmyhands@gmail.com if interested.

Workshop with MUSICA INTIMA at ChorFest!




Saskatchewan Choral Federation is pleased to announce that Canada’s most exciting vocal ensemble, musica intima, will be the feature group at ChorFest Saskatchewan. The group will perform at Knox Metropolitan United Church at 12:00pm (noon) on Monday, February 10, 2014 and provide a workshop to adult and high school singers the day before on Sunday, February 9. Register early, the workshop is limited to 200 singers and tickets are $25 each.  Workshop participants will be invited to sing a selection with musica intima at their concert on Monday.  If you're just coming for some great music, tickets for the Noon Hour Concert are $5 each.

Great opportunities exist for young singers at ChorFest as well. Dr. Mark Sirett will work with exclusively with Saskatchewan youth in an additional workshop on Saturday, Feburary 8, 2014 as part of the Treble Youth Choir Project. Youth choirs will perfect a selection of mass choir pieces that will be performed along with their own choral favourites at a public concert that evening! The concert will be held at Knox Metropolitan United Church at 7:30pm and tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for children and youth (up to age 18).

We're Moving!

Please be advised that SCF will have limited services available from Monday, October 28 - Friday, November 15 as we move our office to a new location.  We will try to accommodate all requests during the move, however, we appreciate your patience in advance.    Watch for a grand opening announcement early in the new year!

National Youth Choir Auditions!

Bring your song to the Maritimes this spring with the National Youth Choir of Canada.  The NYC will tour and perform throughout beautiful Nova Scotia with performances culminating in Halifax as a Highlight Choir at Podium 2014.  This choir has won critical acclaim across Canada since its inception in 1984 and will be an unforgettable experience under the direction of Dr. Hilary Apfelstadt (Director of Choral Programs at the University of Toronto).  Don't miss your opportunity to sing with Canada's most talented young singers!  Auditions are due at the SCF office on Monday, November 4.  For audition guidelines and more information on the 2014 National Youth Choir, please click here.

Choirs Cash in at Music For The Sole

Join us at SK Music Conference


There's lots happening at SK Music Conference: Sing with and learn from Kokopelli's Scott Leithead as he leads conference sessions and delegate choir rehearsals!  Find new repertoire for your choir at Treble Youth and Adult choral reading sessions offered by Kathy Stokes and Dr. Dominic Gregorio.  Learn the basics for what you need to get good sound from your PA at show time and tour Canada's largest collection of choral music this November 7 - 9.  Click here for more details.

Music Mosaic Delights Park Goers at Culture Days SK!

On Sunday, September 29, spectators gathered at the Bandstand in Wascana Park (Regina) to experience Saskatchewan Choral Federation’s first Music Mosaic.  The event was one of the many free cultural events that took place across Canada as part of the Culture Days celebrations.  Spectators had the opportunity to hear diverse genres of music including First Nations drumming, Filipino Art Songs, Women's Barbershop Harmony, Gospel/R&B and German folk songs, reflecting Saskatchewan’s rich cultural diversity.  See pictures, watch highlights and find out more here!
